The gospel is news before it is instruction
Paul reminds Corinth of the message they received: Christ died for sins according to Scripture, was buried, and rose on the third day. Salvation rests on what God has done, not human religious achievement.
The cross deals with sin, the burial confirms death, and the resurrection announces victory, vindication, and new creation.
The event carries covenant meaning
Jesus’ death is substitutionary and representative. He bears sins and opens reconciliation. His resurrection is not a private miracle but the beginning of the coming resurrection and the basis of new life.
The gospel cannot be reduced to moral improvement, inspiration, or a formula detached from Christ.
The event creates a response pattern
