God speaks personally and singularly: ‘there is no god with me.’ This rules out a divine companion sharing His status.

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.
Paul carries the prophetic confession into the church: there is no other God but one.
