The Name of Jesus

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

God’s covenant name arises from His self-existent ‘I AM’ identity.

Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

God promises His people will know His name when they recognize His own saving presence.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

The child is named Jesus because He will save His people from their sins.

I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Jesus bears the Father’s authority and revelation rather than presenting a rival divine name.

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

Jesus says He manifested the Father’s name to the disciples.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Peter identifies healing and resurrection power with Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The apostles declare that no other name under heaven is given by which humanity must be saved.

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Universal worship and confession center on Jesus Christ as Lord.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Every word and deed comes under the Lord Jesus’ name and authority.

And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

The final servants see His face and bear His singular name, completing the one-name theme.
