The Fullness of the Godhead

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Reconciliation is God’s own action in Christ, drawing the world back to Himself.

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Jesus says the Father in Him performs the divine works.

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

Christ is the visible manifestation of the invisible God.

For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Paul first states that all fullness was pleased to dwell in Christ.

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Paul removes ambiguity: all the fullness of the Godhead dwells bodily in Christ.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The incarnation is God’s own manifestation in human existence.

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

The Son radiates God’s glory and gives exact expression to His being.
